Yes... unfortunatley most expats living in the UAE dont know themselves that Abu Dhabi is the capital.. but all that will change very soon... over 30 billion USD of investment in Abu Dhabi real estate is expected over the next 10 years.... so this is just the beginning

It's my turn to ask this question: why does Abu Dhabi need so many buildings? Its economy very oil-dependent unlike in Dubai.

They are trying to promote other industries and reduce the dependency on oil gradually.. and these buildings will be built in phases and not at once.

It is always a very bad idea to have an economy based heavily on one thing. Even though Abu Dhabi isn't going to run out of oil in the near future, if anything happens to the oil market it would still have a huge impact for them. They need to invest to protect themselves from the fluctuations of what is a very volatile trade. And they are doing that with style! Love this project.

Very cool project. Finally Dubai will get some competition from its "little brother". When will construction begin?

One thing though: Don't you think they should be counted as 7 or at least 3 buildings (since 5 of them are built together with a skybridge on the top)?

yes, it's a cluster of about 7-8 buildings officially... the main one (tallest of the lot, not connected by the sky bridge) is called sky tower and is going to be 379 meters tall.

That's great that the capital doesn't lag behind in development from Dubai

I had a dream about an infinity pool like that, with glass so you could look out. Hope that gets built to be see-through.
