You got it wrong! its not for living, but for accommodating millions of people during the pilgrimage (HAJ, which happens once in a year and UMRAH,all along the year). The place literally floods with pilgrims all around the year and now the situation is as such that most of them are more than happy to find any kind of shelter coz its hard to find one of their choice . Air travel has become so convenient ( Specially in asian countries these days) and people are just finding time to visit not money (HAJ or UMRAH has become much more affordable to an average earning person). Islam is the 2nd biggest religion and growing fast and HAJ ( visit to Mecca) is a must atleast once for a Muslim (who can afford) in his life time. The project is more for helping and easing people's visit and stay in Mecca rather than earing from it.

rest you can find in Encyclopedia (if you are intested), which will justify this development.

OHHHHHH thank you for correcting me, ok that makes much more sense now, i thought it was odd that so many people would live there lol, ok now it seems reasonable, but what happens when the pilgrammage is over?

i think the spire going so high is wrong, the actual height of the building is about 1400 ft am i right?, idk but i think the spire is not necessary, it needs to be legit like the chicago spire

i agree thats too high, but its matching the pillers ( minars) of the grand mosque with the moon shape tip.... As the grand mosque will always be the main attraction, everything arround it should match its architecture. My thinking

Actually in Hajj people are usually stretched into other areas as they can extend their religious duties into several days so in Ramadan they tend to be more in the Haram than Hajj !

i think, this palce so full of people all the time, one can hardly makeout difference that its HAJJ, Ramadan or anyother day. The area arround the Grand Mosque or the city itself for that matter desparetly needs infarstucture upgrades, which are happening.....
