cheers dream, that's exactly what I needed, tower by tower update, and thanks to you as well cerulean. Do a lot of people observe Abraj Al Bait there or they just focus on the worship?

This will no way kill mecca, it will help it even more. This tower will make Muslims feel proud of their home city of Mecca.
I'm Muslim and I feel proud!
This is exactly what mecca needs.
Its beautiful and special.

I like this project. Let's hope that some time in the future they will lift limitations so we -the tourists - would be able to visit this great city.

Well, while inside the mosque most people focused on their worship, but the fact that Al Abraj Al Bait has become part of the 'view' of the mosque couldn't be denied.

I actually love this project! It's very colossal and great location as well. I am pretty sure the location is used to deflect sun's rays or may put some shadow in Mecca. Amazing project!

great updates.
if the towers each side of hotel are 280m,
then main tower would be 300m now?

The construction is going very slow. In Dubai it would've been built already.

I'd guess around 90m... this project must have bigger proportions than anything, and construction speed is okay IMO.

Now, as the Royal Hotel has overtaken the rest and is about to be supertall, the most thrilling times begin here. And the side averted to the Holy Mosque is the best place for good construction pics... so thanks a lot for your update from there (and from the top), DreaM1981!

Btw. good to see no major damages left on Hajar Tower by the fire of 20-Nov-2008.
