i guess most of the makkawan familes left long ago, are the houses there of any historic value? or are they just few hundred years old?

anyhouses or buildings from the prophet's (pbuh) time survive there or not?

Great updates! Will this tower have 4 sides of clocks? Or just one?

whats that hole? may be they throw brick after brick in that hole and from ground level the workers get the debris out?

I'm a bit off topic here, but the woodwork on the demolished building looks fantastic, I hope they find somewhere to use it.

Cheers,

I have just recently joined this forum and I have a few specific questions about the 43-meter diameter clock that is now under construction.

Does anyone know the manufacturer of the mechanic part of the clock?

Searching the web I only found vague references to a "German firm" but no details.

I assume that, when ready, it will display local zone time (3 hours ahead of GMT) or is it going to display "Makkah Time", following a proposal made at a conference in Doha a few years ago urging Islamic countries to replace the Greenwich meridian with the meridian passing through the Ka'ba?

The tower will be the center of the Makkah Time.

BTW, the golden parts of the Clock is actually REAL GOLD.
