I've never seen before that much display of gross incompetence and criminal mistakes all in a row. By the way, not just in one, but at least in two cases (at 2.02 and 4.40) there has probably been a loss of human lives.

You should check out the Ghettos in America or the Israeli occupation in Palestine.

I know very well what you mean. I implied incompetence "in the building sector". By the way both the things you mentioned are NOT mistakes, they are there for a purpose, albeit a very disgraceful one.

that video WASN'T for Abraj AL-bait,,that demolishing was for the Holy mosque expansion project (AL-Shameyya and AL-Ghazza areas) I can recognize AL-Jaffali building on that video which is between Al-Shameyya and AL-Ghazza. and since it was less than 150 m from the holy mosque they didn't use explosives.

No offense but this way to demolish buildings seem really dangerous (and since there has been casualties, it is). While it's original and fun to use chain, it's quite unpractical and cheap, and if they want to demolish building with style there are other ways.

I think "cheap" is the general idea here.

i'm from saudi and i'm as shocked as you are to see this.

but if there was any "casualties" its just based on the low quality of the video.. i don't think that i'v heard of any

i think the reason they used this method is because the building were old ? so chains were easier ..?

I think it was done because it was the easiest way to raze so many buildings in a fast and cheap way.

Also, if there were any casualties, it's obviously not the demolition method that's to blame but the idiocy of the people standing next to a structure that's being pulled down. If there were indeed deaths, those are Darwin Award candidates for me.

Time may have also been taken in consideration. It's faster to put chains and break the bases of the buildings than to put explosive charges at each floor at each standing point for sure.

Culwulla's latest diagram is on the last page. According to the diagram the tower is currently tied with Taipei 101 as second tallest building in the world, same height.
