Cool! Is that going to be built behind the Abraj Al Bait's? Looks very nice, but almost too dense

Probably has to do with insecurity, and it's human nature to compete against others. Every city dreams of having a signature building, and what better a place than Mecca to have such a gem? The race towards the sky continues!!!

This whole page has nothing to do with the 1972ft supertall that this thread is about. Isn't there a thread about the other complexes... I would check that out. What I'm saying is stay the **** on topic!

That's we have a WTC1 thread, WTC2 thread, and so on... Quit lying to yourself! A link would have been acceptable, not a whole page. I want to see, and discuss about the tall ass building that looks like the offspring of the ESB, Big Ben, and Moscow State University.

Well, simply, we like to keep the same project in the same thread as not to bother you with another Mecca thing.
"Quit lying to yourself": ok, you wrote this to us and you can read it as many times as you want.
"tall ass building": Man, this is SCC not a night club, try to control your enthusiasm
"offspring": Thanks for mentioning three beautiful buildings, that means it has features from each one, but doesn't look exactly like any of them.

Why is there so less space between all those towers? All those people won't even see the sun 24/7. It's just all shadow that they will have. This is ridiculous. They should have placed less towers to give more comfort to the people who will stay there.

So sun equals comfort, and shadow equals discomfort, according to you? You do know which country this complex is built in, right?

Salaam All.

I have just joined up today after reading this thread/topic for well over a couple of months now. I have to admit this project is very big, same goes for the building haha.

However, I feel that the location was wrong. I went for Hajj and Umrah back in 1994. I was only about 6 years old then. I remember seeing the Al-Ajyad Castle as a kid and thinking "Wow, I really want to go up there", as it was on Bulbul mountain, it was quite a sight when you're a child.

However family members went on Hajj 4 years a go, and I asked about the Castle and everyone said they didn't see? I remember back in 2001 there being some sort of confrontation about knocking something down in Makkah, but didn't pay much attention.

Anyway after a bit of googling I realised they have knocked it down for this beast of a building.

Makkah is known for the Kaa'ba, it's mosque and Mount Hira. Aswell as the pilgrimage and so forth.

I wish they hadn't knocked down the castle, and they built this building elsewhere, but I've grown to like it somewhat, and atleast it will help provide a place to stay for the more pilgrimage's who can afford to go on Hajj and Umrah.

I also read somewhere that they will rebuild Al-Ajyad castle? But haven't had no more information on this.

But least to say, it's a wonderful project, just in my opinion they should have built it at a different location.

all those who claim there were no buildings taller than Kaaba, do they know how tall the Kaaba actually is? its only about 12 meters tall and even the surrounding mosque is taller, let alone the buildings around it since there have been cameras around. (check out old pictures)
and because Kaaba is at the bottom of a valley, the ground is even higher then Kaaba just outside the grand mosque in some sides. i remember when there was this bridge which i used to enter from the Marwa side of Shamia (beside the Makkah Sofitel Building), i go in from a gate on the road, and down wards, still, the bridge leads to the roof of the grand mosque from that side.
