The first pic you posted also says "Overall tower height: 610m"

Is that official?

Besting Big Ben? Is this a contest? Between buildings built 150 years apart?
*EDIT:
I only criticise the title, building's great. I don't want more flame wars.

THIS is the type of modern architecture that I like to see - it blends in perfectly with surrounding architecture. And that clockface is absolutely beautiful. Excited to see how this one will turn out.

Kenyan youth find jobs in world's largest hotel

Published on 08/09/2010
By PHILLIP MWAKIO

Over 1,400 Kenyan Muslim youths are headed for the Gulf State of Saudi Arabia to take up jobs at the magnificent Makkah Clock Royal Tower, world’s largest hotel.

Speaking to The Standard at the Moi International Airport, Mombasa, Wednesday, Managing Director of Omfa Limited, local recruiting agency firm, Sheikh Farjalah Shedau Ahmed said the youth secured employment, and signed work contracts with relevant Government authorities, like the Ministry of Labour, Gender and Youth Affairs and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

He spoke while bidding farewell to 21 youths who flew out to Saudi Arabia via Nairobi to take up jobs at the landmark establishment. Others will follow in groups of 50, with the last batch expected to leave by December.

Mr Salim Ghalgani of Zubda Trust, said the deal to secure the Kenyan youths jobs in the Holy city of Mecca was a welcome relief to the many jobless youngsters.

reputable company

"We are delighted at the fact that the jobs being granted are in the hospitality industry, with a reputable global company known for excellence," Ghalgani said.

The Kenyan youths will become butlers, technicians, waiters, security guards and receptionists in the hotel, which is managed by the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Group.

Gulf Arabia, Thank you for that great post. Especially cool to see those lightning arrestors that can be deployed from the clock corners when needed.

What does the parking area look like for such a huge hotel?

Can anyone who is familiar enough with this project tell me which names match with which towers? Obviously I know the name of the tallest tower, but I can't match up the names for six other towers.

1. Safa Tower
2. Marwah Tower

3. Qibla Tower
4. Maqam Tower

5. ZamZam Tower
6. Hajar Tower

Each pair in the list have the same height and number of floors, so I can figure out which groups of towers they are by looking at the rendering, but I don't know which one is on the left and which is on the right.

I have also seen the Maqam Tower refered to as the Sarah Tower. Which is the correct name?

To correctly mark each tower on a map I need to know which one is which.

@Dylan Leblanc

A recent plan to help you: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...postcount=5784

I would like to post you a smaller render of this one, don't find.

In this older plan, the 2 towers on the side have different name. But it give indication.
Sarah tower have change to Maqam tower
Maqam tower have change to Qibla tower

For people who don't know how exactly the height got increased from 591M to 601M and which floors have been added:

<<The old design>>

<<The new design>>

I hope it is clear.

Please explain the parking for this hotel complex. Do most people drive to this location? Do they park outside of town and ride buses? I look at all the other large hotels in the world and see massive parking underground or the back. There looks like no room here. Thanks.
