Impressive project, but to be honest, I don't like its architecture and location. I could never even imagine that they would built something like this next to St. Peter's Basilica, for instance.

It reminds me of a Big Ben on steriods!

I think it doesn't look too bad though...

since you seem to be the insider here, can you enlighten us on the crescent? will it be raised by cranes? will it be built on the site? will it be lifted by a helicopter?

All things considered, the color seems pretty appropriate. Would you expect it to be yellow or blue? The symbolism seems pretty important to these guys, even if a little tacky.

sorry to say about the height dont look like 600m ,but even in this shot it dont look any taller than the sears tower in chicargo , especially with the man in white . ive stood and looked up 550m cn tower and that looked taller .may be its because of all the very close buildings keeping it nearly fully enclosed.

Great pics, congratulations !

It might not look like a 601-meter tall tower because of many visual aspects such as design, camera angle, appearance. The bottom half of the tower shows lot of stories, while the top half of the tower simulates a different scale when showing only a few stories, the enormous clock and the spire. then, the scale dissappears and gets difficult to perceive. It doesnt happen when we look a skyscraper like the Sears tower because looks practically the same from the first floor to the last one which enphasizes scale at its maximun.

Also, let's not forget that it's closely surrounded by four ~250m (?) towers on each side. That definitely makes it look shorter..

I think that in a decade or two, when all the expansions to the Masjid al-Haram and all the surrounding projects are done, Mecca is going to have one of the most awe-inspiring urban cores in the world.
