For some reason this tower looks quite "English" to me. I don't dislike it though, although I would have expected a more Islamic feeling in it. That's perhaps because I'm not even Islamic, what do you think?

Anyway, I have a doubt somehow related to the topic:
¿Can a non-Muslim enter to Mecca and visit this massive complex of towers?

I wish everyone would stop saying that!!! Look, all of you who think that clocktowers are by definition the bastion of Englishness, upon the clocktower of the masjid al Mohammed Ali in Cairo, built before Big Ben:

Yeah, but that clocktower doesn't look anything like the one in Mecca. The Big Ben does though.

Anyway, I was just posting my humble opinion and didn't even know other people have said the same thing. Coincidence? Perhaps, but you should wonder. I would love to hear an opinion from a Saudi Arabian.

My Saudi Arabian teacher was talking about it the other day and he agrees with me: it doesn't look anything like Big Ben other than being a clocktower with a spire. The steel top of the Abraj al bait is in the style of a minaret, whereas big ben has an architectural spire. The Abraj is rectangular, not square. Literally, there do not exist any two spired clocktowers in the world more different than these.
