Get over it guys, the reason why people relates Abraj Al Bait tower clock with big-ben is that the english one is a world-wide icon, they are similar because they both have giant clocks as main feature... there's nothing wrong with comparing, just let people be.

If you watch every single archituctural detail you will feel the difference between them, which is indeed enormous, but they are similar as they both are towers and they both have a clock just as I said before.

yeah, if competitor of the abraj would've been really ugly I would even vote for abraj just for the size and complecity, but City of Capitals is just avarage. In my book its not enough to lose with it

Apparently the height is not everything

They should've pitted Abraj al Bait against Al Yaqoub Tower. That would've been a fairer fight.

But, abraj al-bait :
1. has the largest clock in the world
2. has the largest floor area in the world
3. is currently the 2nd tallest in the world
and maybe some more ..

But, they've voted against it because they are not muslims and they can't ever visit it . That's the truth if somebody wants it ... !!

Wow... I didn´t know that this building represents islamic religion. So the fact that I don´t like the design of this building makes me anti-muslim?

In fact, the muslims should be the most pissed, because they´ve built such a horrible building just a few meters from Masjid al-Haram...

True. I would without hesitation vote for abraj then.

Thats very common argument. But what about Burj Khalifa, maybe its not so islamic, but still it represents arabic world, and still people love it (me included). I'm sure if abraj would have great design that would not matter wherever its located (especialy with that height).

And I'm sure that some people vote against it because they can't visit it, but if even so the thing you should complain about is mecca policy.

i love the design of the building because it is so overkill, i really cant see how it is so ugly for a lot of people but hey, every man its own taste i guess

The only truth I see is that it lost because most people liked more city of capitals over Abraj.
