Yes, it was my understanding that the green was inspired by (paying tribute to) Saudi Arabia's flag color.

IMO, green in the desert is also symbolic of an oasis, the mosque being the oasis, and the **** tower being the pointer (the landmark guide) to getting to that oasis.

i want to see the "allahu akbar" and the pointers lit in white, while the background light is just off. there is no need for any color there...

I agree with this. The green actually makes the white hands and hour markers of the clock, more difficult to see at a distance.

Sorry I just assumed that because when I was in Egypt almost every mosque there is lit up green and I thought that kaddafi and hamas also used this color because it was a symbol of Islam.

Anyway, whatever the reason I think it's ugly. White pointers and no back light would have been just fine.

I'm surprised to see such a larged section of the Crescent installed in one shot. If this is how they are doing it, the Crescent will be completed in only 3 more lifts.

I asked this same question months ago. If indeed they are for viewing from (There is a spiral staircase going to this level in the crescent) then it would be the highest observation deck in the world at almost 2000 feet.

Keep dreaming, I saw it today and the second part was nowhere to be seen. Why did they lift it yesterday? I don't know

IMO there is no way there will be observation deck in the crescent Just imagine say 20 people crowded in that small inconvinient space looking outside throught that small holes

btw this is how the crescent look inside and compared to the human. OpDeck in here, really?

I believe there's an observation deck right below the crescent but not inside the crescent itself of course.
