By the by, what's inside the clock tower? Do they actually use all the room? As there apparently are no windows, there probably are no further hotel rooms or the likes, I guess.

I would rather prefer this design rather than something modern given the sensitive context of the surroundings. It compliments the Mosque.

Well, it at least overshadows the mosque.

Probably the worst argument in this thread. I have a great interest in Arabic Islam-influenced architecture styles and this building does not respect its surroundings at all. Talking about 'sensitive surroundings; ...

All attention should be drawn to the Ka'aba and the Mosque - buildings like these should be built in Ryad or a Saudi city at the coast. Mekka is a place for modesty and this building is Las Vegas at it's best. It dominates and even mocks it's holy surroundings. I can't believe muslims accepting these development. And for me personally (but that is just a question of taste) this is the most ugly new highrise building I have ever seen yet.

Build a completely shitty building, put a crescent on the top and you have got the worst thing that could happen to Mecca.

+1

No, what I mean is that, if a tower HAS to be beside the Holy Mosque, it would be better in Islamic-influenced style rather than a modern glass tower.
