If only muslims can enter the Mecca, only muslims works can work there? And what's about the designer/architect/supervisors, all of them are muslims?

Yes only muslims can work there

there are some non-muslims involve in the project(like for the clock) but they never came in Mecca.

Don't misunderstand me, please. Most of the great infrastructure projects have foreign contractors, and I was wondering if they can go into the Mecca to work with special permissions.

Clock Tower In Mecca Has Malaysian Touch

16 October 2011

MECCA – Malaysians can take pride in the Mecca Royal Hotel Clock Tower or the Abraj Al-Bait which faces the Masjidil Haram or Grand Mosque here because it has a Malaysian touch.

Wan Nazri Wan Aria, 31, an engineer with a German company, SL Rasch, is responsible for coming up with the design of the giant clock tower.

He said a lightweight steel structure was used to build the tower to support the giant clock which was installed by experts, who included Malaysians, from Premier Composite Technology, a company from Dubai.

The 601 metre high clock tower, also known as the Mecca Royal Hotel Clock Tower, is the tallest and largest in the world, beating other clock towers in the world, like the one at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw Poland, the Big Ben in London and the Ann-Bradley Clock Tower in Milwaukee, United States of America.

“It is three times bigger than the Big Ben in London,” said Wan Nazri, a Melaka-born Malaysian who went to further his studies at the Stuttgart University in Germany after graduating from Universiti Teknologi Mara in 2002.

Wan Nazri and a few engineers from Premier Composite Technology were met by the Tabung Haji media group having “teh tarik” at the Restoran Felda D’saji at Safwa Tower near the Grand Mosque here.

He said he was proud to be one of those involved in designing and building of the new landmark in Mecca, which could be seen from 17km away at night and 12km during the day.

The two million LED lights on the clock faces, which flash five times a day to signal the call to prayer, can be seen from a distance of 28km. The four clock faces are decorated with 90 million pieces of glass mosaics.

The clock tower, reported to cost USD$3 billion, is scheduled for completion in February next year.

This angle of the tower shows that it indeed was disproportionately designed
