Can't believe how massive this is, its almost surreal and must be the most dominating piece of human made structure i've seen.

It comes at a terrible price. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...y-8228795.html

“Muslim silence over the destruction of Mecca and Medina is both disastrous and hypocritical,” says Dr Alawi. “The recent movie about the Prophet Mohamed caused worldwide protests... and yet the destruction of the Prophet’s birthplace, where he prayed and founded Islam has been allowed to continue without any criticism.”

Keep in mind dude, the biggest religion in Saudi Arabia is a form of Sunni Islamism called Wahhabism, which is not only practiced by the House of Saud, but by 40% of the Saudi population. And the teachings of Wahhabism "disapprove of veneration of the historical sites associated with early Islam, on the grounds that only God should be worshipped and that veneration of sites associated with mortals leads to idolatry."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wahhabi...storical_sites

This is why so many historical sites in Northern Mali, especially Timbuktu are being destroyed by extremists muslim militants. :/

I took this pic 4 days ago, Holy Prophet's (SAW) house is visible in it, is untouched and not going anywhere. The article in "The independent" is just plain non-sense.

sorry brother to tell you but there is a difference between the ''House of the Prophet'' and the ''Birth place of the Prophet''.

1- So, the House of the Prophet (who is also known as House of Khadija) is demolish ...some say they were built toilets on it and some say the toilets were buit just a side of it. still confusion on this.
photo: http://yanabi.files.wordpress.com/20...usekhadija.jpg

2- and the Birth place of the prophet is still there but there is a library built on it.

I can't understand why anybody would want to obliterate historical buildings, especially when they have such a direct relationship to the very origins of the faith. But then, I'm not a moslem, but I think there are many moslems who don't understand this either.
I think in a couple of hundred years the people who are doing this will be reviled by moslems for what they have destroyed.
