In the words of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, proudly serving in Full Metal Jacket: "601 meters? I did not know they stack shit that high!"

WOW!!That clocktower is really a worthy opponent to the disney castle, of being the most hideous and childish-looking building in the world.

I don't have a problem with this building as many of you seem to have. I think it looks OK. It is not beautiful, but it is imposing and in that sense impressive. So I don't have a problem with the design but I am not crazy about he quality, both of the materials used and the workmanship. Look at the picture below. The Green glass, and the stone, look very "faded". It has a very 70's (non)gleam to it. Most modern buildings have a "glassy" sheen whether the exterior is glass or stone, but this building looks more like something built in the sixties or seventies. It lacks the modern "sheen" and has more of that "old" pastel-like patina. Plus this building will be much harder to clean and maintain due to its more complex exterior.

Also the workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. I wish we had an even closer image, but even at this distance, you can clearly see huge gaps between some of the tiles, especially at the bottom left-center, around the top of that window. If it already looks this "poor" now, how will it look in 10, 20, 30 years? And middle eastern cities are NOT famed for their tidiness and building maintenance and upkeep. I'm afraid that in twenty years this building will look like a giant Eastern European commieblock.

It's just a rude building. A scar on mecca. Not that i object to megaprojects, but i do despise gross capitalism. Especially at the cradle of Islam. Shameful to build that next to the ka'bah, and put an ugly clock on top too.
