I rather like the XYZ buildings. Together, they make one of the best groupings of background buildings in the city.

According to news, the metro passes through that area; there was no mentioning of a station. Yet, no one is sure

that's too bad i do hope the supertalls are not cancelled, but it kind of looks like it since it is soo long ago we heard about it and it all was more concept than set in stone. time will tell i suppose

yes no one is sure ... even with this project (on first pic) behind Abraj al Bait ... I'm not sure

But it looks for sure that there will be a road just behind ...

Project of a road behind Abraj al Bait

On the map behind Abraj al Bait, what is the green spot? ... what's says the legend?

No tacky means kitschy, as in a superficial or forced imitation that is badly done. Tasteless would probably work. Overly flashy not so much (although many are overly flashy). Ryugyong in Pyongyang for instance is tacky but not flashy.

So what's the word in English for "tasteless beyond any imagination, offensive for religious feelings, so-out-of-place-that-it-looks-funny, and smelling of noveau-richism from 2000 miles away"?

They should continue with the "half" towers and complete a circle around the Mosque. Create a "modern fortress" of gigantic size. The biggest "castle" ever in human history. Might as well.

I can't help but feel that all these skyscrapers towering over The Grand Mosque are taking away from it's importance somewhat. Some of the plans of the development near the Mosque are quite over-the-top. There's just a bit too much going on for a place of such importance.

But if they're building it I'm sure they're okay with it so who am I to question it.

Someone listened to you, they are now talking about taking Abraj Al-Bait down. Crazy, it's the most amazing Clock in the world!
