I think you missed the point of the message. Those posts were placed in the other thread instead of here (where they do belong). Obviously if people like or dislike this project's architecture, that comment should be placed here. It is ridiculous to suggest that anything negative should be posted elsewhere. Each and every one of those comments is absolutely appropriate to this thread - just like Joe P's recent comment.

Yes, a lot of off-topic and trolling content in this thread

According to the new development of Makkah in general including the central area of the holy mosque, this project is OK!!

Now it looks odd since most of the surrounded projects are old, small and ugly but when you take a look at the new development of the area, you can notice that it is normal project comparing with other huge developments which include many highrise buildings and so on..

Dream are there any plans to expand the Grand Mosque itself? Would they simply build floors on the existing Mosque or Build floors on the open marble area that exists right now?

There is a new extention from Shameyya side. There is a rumor about adding one extra floor yes but not confirmed.

New Extension from Shameyya side is already approved.

Where would that floor be added? the existing Grand mosque or the Open Marble areas.

The grand mosque its self but it is just a rumor. No any confirmation or any render at all.

And sure the extension which got approved will be in the open marble area (Shameyya side) inshallah (God willing).

Thank goodness the "children" are finished with their hissy fit,
and this thread can get back to business.....

If this building was built in any other city, It would be an impressive sight!
I understand the religous issues about the location, but it really
is an increadible project. (OK... the clock is pretty tacky)
......yeah, the clock.

Other than that I love the building. I'm trying to look at it as "a building is a building." I bet people in the past protested each time something was built near the mosque and this building is no exception.

LOL This building just exudes a Vegas knock off. Opulent, tacky, and just flat out ridiculous.

Given the context this building being the Kaaba, it is probably appropriate to update the toll of this year's Hajj. To this point, official reports state 254 people have died.

Some of the above pictures are from prior years, but as has been reported many times on this thread, projections for the future are even higher!
