As a sure sign that the new build apartment market in the Welsh capital, Cardiff, is starting to recover, Bellway Homes has restarted work on the Horizon Tower.

Situated overlooking Cardiff Bay on a development known as Prospect Place, the scheme first surfaced in 2004 and was put on hold following the financial crash of 2008 with workers downing their tools and leaving the concrete frame uncompleted.

Work is now resuming however and the tower is beginning to rise again with the concrete frame approaching the 8th floor of what will eventually be an 18 storey tall tower whilst Bellway have begun to market the apartments within.

The tower will contain 76 one and two bedroom apartments in total, all of which overlook the water on the western side of Cardiff Bay thanks to their clever placement in relation to the main core of the building.

The stalled project was symbolic of the fallen plans for the Penarth Marina area, which remain half completed. The resumption of the development may be a positive indication towards a restart for an even larger development at Cardiff Bay, the Pointe project that features 23 and 27 floor towers whilst elsewhere in the city construction continues at the new Admiral Insurance headquarters.
