Long ago, most of my family lived in Istanbul, but that was at least 80 years ago. It is funny, I have found relatives when I was in Greece (they moved from Istanbul to Athens), and I could probably find more in Istanbul.

You mean Serbian descent?
Since Bosniaks themselves are of Serbian blood.

What language do these Bosniaks speak? Is it Serbian or some "Bosniak", that we Serbs simply do not understand?

I've actually met one or two Turks on this very forum that said they were (partially) of Bosniak descent, from Novi Pazar and Sarajevo. No word of any Serb heritage

Maybe Mark should raid Istanbul with the Kurts of Ontario(Wolfs of Ontario) and capture it,and then tell the folks that they are actually Serbs and that Istanbul used to be called New Dusanovo

I know about the history of Užice, but I'm unfamiliar with Četinje. I din't know there was ever a Bosniak presence in that city.

I must say, as an American (where the unrest in this region was seldom reported), this thread has been incredibly interesting. I have followed the events unfolding there for the past fifteen years raptly. A few days ago, I founf a National Geographic magazine on a sidewalk in my city (Seattle) from 1962. It had a 25 page article on Yugoslavia and the beauty, peace and success it was experiencing. This starkly contrasted with all the news stories I'd heard growing up (I'm 25.) It just made me realize how quickly a beautiful and prosperous country could fall into violence so quickly; like Beiruit, like New Orleans. With the current sharp divisions and growing discontent in the US, the history of such countries is a constant reminder that no country is that far from revolution.

nice pictures, too.

Prizren is something special

Looking Prizren tears are always coming to my eyes...

Na strazi pored Prizrena- Zabranjeno Pusenje- 198?

Mozda je veceras tvoja grupa, mozda je veceras akcija
Bukurije je ostala sama, ceka jutro i poljubac
Cula ludacki rade, da shvatis nema vremena
Prst na obaracu i kletva u zraku, na strazi pored Prizrena

Kazes treba platiti racune jer duhovi hodaju poljima

Zbog sumnjive slave i tudjih grijeha ginu mladi lavovi
