I just wanted to add that from my last trip to Prizren I was really struck by a decent number of foreign visitors in the city. Most of them from the continent but I also saw a Japanese couple and an American family. I was not able to decipher whether they were 'local international' employees, spies or god knows what... but for a Kosovan like myself it was refreshing to see this new trend.
We ended up at a qebap shop called 'Te Syla' for lunch (which has apparently become a famous hub for everyone new to Prizren) and the entire first floor was filled with people looking at Prizren maps discussing the area and its landmarks.
I was also very impressed with the level of development and the work done in the city. I thought the infrastructure in Prizren was far above the Kosovan benchmark... I don't know if that's down to the fact that Prizren is ruled by PDK and PDK being the ruling party in Kosova has diverted most of the regional funds to Prizren? Anyway I don't want to delve too much into politics but, Prizren is defintiely a must see city when in Kosova.

Of course, PDK holding Prizren and the central level means that Prizren gets a lot more money than it's fair share. But the city was well-managed during LDK times too (when Eqrem Kryeziu was mayor), and a lot of the streets and roads were repaved back then. The current mayor is an embarrassment and his mismanagement has cost the city precious investment money. For example, Prizren lost 4 million euros from the European Commission (money that would have gone to renove the fortress), because one of the projects that EC paid for, a tennis court, was being misused by people in the municipality.

When EC invests in different areas, for example by building a tennis court, one of its principles is that the tennis court (or whatever) needs to be free of charge to the public, with the respective municipality paying for maintenance and upkeep. But no, in Prizren they figured that they have the "right" to charge people a 10 euro entrance fee, EC heard about this, but Muja and his buddies wouldn't stop charging people money to use tennis courts they didn't even build!

So, as a measure, the EC cut off all projects for Prizren, including project that would see the fortress restored to its former glory.
