There are a number of industry rankings. Here's yet another one - the TTG Travel Awards:

Best Airport - Hong Kong International

There are also a number of other travel and convention awards.

The "Best" airport depends on a lot of things. What is important to some folks is not important to others. I've always like Amsterdam's Schipol airport because the quality of their First Class lounges and the efficiency of the KLM staff. But a lot of folks feel that Schiphol is too spread out.

As for one of the newest and cleanest airports, Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos Airport) is tops. But they should elminate smoking from ALL areas inside the terminal. That habit is SO passe and disgusting! It's about time all European airports outlawed smoking in the terminals. They all like to proclaim how "Green" they are and then they allow one of the dirtiest habits to stink up a nice terminal. Disgusting.

TTG deals with the travel trade rather than tourists, so unless you're involved in the industry, chances are you probably don't know much about it. Since TTG deals with trade customers, they are far better at gauging travel-related benchmarks since they have access to a lot more big-picture data (ie. what travel agents are sensing from their clients).

If you actually browse the website, you will find that this is a pan-Asian organization.

Wincor Nixdorf (M) Sdn Bhd began operations in October 2000. The company provides cutting-edge self-service solutions for the banking and retail industries. The solutions it offers include cash recycling systems, cash dispensers, cash & cheque deposit systems, automated teller safes, full function ATMs as well as interactive kiosk terminals to major banking customers in Malaysia. Today we have over 20 customers in both the banking & financial sectors with over 2,000 units of ATMs installed.

The Retail Division of the company offers state-of-the-art Point-of-Sales terminals to major supermarkets, departmental stores, retail and F&B outlets in Malaysia. Wincor Nixdorf is now one of the biggest suppliers of POS terminals in Malaysia.
