That's a nice building, nomatter what it resembles...

My question would be if the round platform on top of the new render really is a helicopter platform - if so how do you land there?

Why Panama? Panama is seen as a good place to retire due to a low cost of living, great weather and good medical facilities. It has been rated as one of the best places for retirement or a second home because of the safety and beauty of the country.

The development coincides with Panama’s plans for an approximately $5.5-billion improvement of the Panama Canal, K Group president Roger Khafif pointed out during a press conference announcing the project. The just-announced Canal plan still must meet voter approval. Khafif said as many as 30,000 US citizens currently call Panama home and there are more than one million tourists each year.

Trump Unveils New Mixed-Use Development in Panama City

When Donald Trump held the Miss Universe pageant in Panama City three years ago, he termed the city beautiful and said he would develop there if the right opportunity presented itself. The right opportunity finally did, and in New York City today Trump unveiled the Trump Ocean Club mixed-use project.

Trump's first foray into Central America, the 2.4 million-square-foot, 65-story waterfront tower is being co-developed by the Trump Organization and Panamanian resort developer K Group. It will include hotel condominium units, condominium units, retail, a casino and a beach club and marina upon its estimated 2009 completion. The tower is being built on a beachfront lot in the Punta Pacifica district, bordering the city's financial center, and will be connected to the rest of the city by the Corredor Sur highway, giving it accessibility to both the city and airport.

"Americans are coming in droves to Panama," said Roger Khafif, president of K Group. He cited reasons such as political stability, a low cost of living, low interest rates and the country's location outside of usual hurricane paths. "It's great for baby boomers." Trump said, however, that the project would be marketed worldwide.

The original development plans called for 1.8 million square feet at a cost of $220 million. The project has since been expanded to 2.4 million square feet, but Trump would not disclose if the development costs have risen as well. HSBC will be funding the project, and the commercializing company Espacios Urbanos S.A. and construction firm Arias Serna y Saravia S.A are also taking part in the development.

The unveiling of Trump Ocean Club comes on the same day of Panamanian president Martin Torrijos' plan to ask voters for approval of a multibillion-dollar project to expand the Panama Canal in order to accommodate large, modern cargo ships. That would be the canal's largest modification since its 1914 opening.

Trump Takes On Panama

Here a Trump, there a Trump, everywhere a Trump, Trump, the Donald has been zipping around the globe lately planning massive projects. The latest is the Trump Ocean Club, international Hotel & Tower, in Panama City, Panama. The $220 million project, will include a 65-story condominium tower with 300 co-tel units and an additional 500 condo units, a casino and private beach club on Contadora Island. The Trump Ocean Club will also include a yacht club, spa, gym, and business center. It's the first Trump project in Central America. The Trump Ocean Club, Panama will be located in the Punta Pacifica area of Panama City and is expected to be completed in 2009.

Trump Locks In Panama Casino Deal

A man, a plan - and a casino. That's Panama, Donald Trump style. The reality-show figurehead and real estate mogul announced yesterday that he's building a $220 million high-rise project in the hometown of the Panama Canal. The 65-story Trump Ocean Club, International Hotel and Tower will feature 800 hotel and condominium units overlooking the beach, a casino and a 24-hour yacht club in Panama City.

"I really think the time for Panama has come," Trump said at a midtown news conference. "There will be very, very few buildings that rival this one." The announcement comes as Panama's government moves forward with expanding the famed canal to make room for the latest generation of massive cargo boats. The Trump high-rise is expected to be completed by late 2009.

I find it rather ugly.
IMO, the most impressivve residential, or any project at all in the whole of Latin America, or at least outside the US and Chicago, would be the ICE tower, right there in Panama

shaun is basically showing that Dr. Dubai is a hypocrite. The link is to the Al Bawadi project in Dubai where there will be dozens of replicas of various buildings around the world being built in the form of a hotel district.

I do think however that the design should be changed to something more original whether it was based on the Burj Al Arab or not. Besides why would you want to look like Dubai.
