The building we most miss is arguably the one alongside City Square now the site of the hotel.

Boar Lane lay derelict for many years until they decided to start doing something with it in the late 1980s. I think we're lucky they never got round to it until then because redevelopment had been very unenlightened before that. Although Park Row still has some fine buildings, they made a good attempt to butcher it.

I think the 'new' building on park row aren't bad TBH. The Lloyds building is quality granite. The corner building with Nabaro Nathanson in is built in an 'old' style with the dome retained and the glass fronted building next to Piccolino was way ahead of its time.

I always think Park Row is a very nice street, it's lost a lot of its historical architecture but it's been replaced by good quality builds. Boar Lane is fantastic IMO.

The axis from the Corn Exchange along Duncan Street, Boar Lane, City Square and Wellington Street (barring the odd abomination) is magnificent.

There are still plenty of people who seem to have a negative reaction to Leeds based on how it looked fifteen years ago - filthy buildings, areas of dereliction and a familiarity with the inner ring road. But I also think some of the negative responses of recent visitors come from the centrality of the horrible Albion Street/Woodhouse Lane axis and the unlucky peripherality of some of Leeds' major buildings (the Municipal Buildings for example). Manchester's old banking area is a lot more contiguous with the shopping area (or at least, there is some flow through from shoppers), so it is more often seen by visitors. Leeds has some great architectural sights which could be better displayed as a result ofnew developments in the coming years.

I thought it was the York Road for a moment, near the old ABC cinema site but it looks like part of Leeds Uni in the background?? |

It's the Inner Ring Road, taken from near Josephs Well/St George's.
Taken from the side of the trench here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=leed...33.75,,0,-9.36
