NETHERLANDS:

Total: 125 575 km
Paved: 113.018 km (2.450 km of motorways)
Unpaved: 12.557 km

I don't know where all these unpaved roads would be, even the most isolated farms have paved dead-end roads. I know some unpaved roads, but they're rare.

If they include bike paths, I could understand it

By "highways" I assume you mean strictly Autostrada-grade roads and not the wider perspective of the word "highway" (any public road).

Yes, I didn't knew that the word highway could refer to any public road actually. Thank you for specifying that.

Damn, I have no idea. From farm roads(Texas), state highways/routes, to U.S. Highways and Interstates it's gotta be a lot.

From memory, the USA has about 3 million miles of public road, of which about 50% is paved. Texas alone has about 300,000 miles of public road. The Interstate highway system is about 43,000 miles in length, but it is hard to get a firm estimate of the mileage of non-Interstate freeways because they are lumped (for statistical purposes) into a Principal Arterial category which also includes divided highways without full control of access.

IRTAD figures suggest traffic density on US Interstates is about 30,000-40,000 VPD/mile, which is approximately the European median.

I calculated the total American "freeway" network according to the 2008 Rand McNally atlas is 95.597 kilometers. However, I lost the original file on my previous computer. That comes down to 59.414 miles.

note: there are another 5,100 km of roadways in overseas departments (2006)
