Not a chance for 2014, 2018 is your best chance and even then you will be up against England.

i know there will be fierce competition from england. but the insulars (the english) have infratructural disadvantages compared to holland.
plus the english weather which is worse than holland's during the summer. |

Even if we were to host the WC (by expanding certain stadiums to 50-60k), what the hell are we going to do with these venues when its over?

Arnhem and Heevereen are too small to host WC games. Well, Heevereen looks that it could be expanded to maybe 40 000. And I thought that Arnhem us only 27 000, and this one cannot be expanded.

Arnhem can be expanded to 30.000 they did in 2000 so they can do it again.
Today Henk Kessler, the president of the dutch FA said they would like to do a joint bid with Belgium. With the Netherlands providing six stadiums and Belgium four. I think it could be possible, Amsterdam, Rotterdam (they can build a new stadium for Feyenoord as planned), Arnhem, Eindhoven and Heerenveen could do the job for the Netherlands. But it's going to be a tough bid though against Russia and England.

Its a shame that the most beautifull club in this world has a commercial theatre as a stadium. I will celebrate the day that they bring this ugly UFO down. Its even worse than the 'slauchboot' in Munich.
sound is terrible, no expansion possibilities, a very deep and wide gap between the stands and the pitch that never seems to grow. But what do you think when you put a 2 story parking lot underneeth the pitch and put it 8 meters in the air... ![]() Ow, the capacity right now is 52.342. source: the AFC Ajax season guide. But they are only using 51.000 or so because the rest has bad sightings. |

Correct, they are thinking about expanding the stadium. Earlier studies called for 60.000 or so seats, but the latest study which was done aimed at 70.000 seats. The conclusion was that it is feasable, but very expensive, especially due to the roof work. That needs to be lifted, then the expansion could be build, then the roof needs to be enlarged on the outer edges to connect to the top of the than realised third tier and finally it must be lowered again on the enlarged construction. Not easy and it will not take away some of the down-sides of this stadium. Many Ajax fans are not happy with the stadium.
The 70.000 has of course to do with the CL Final minimum required capacity of 70.000 seats. Also a possible Netherlands WC-2018 together with Belgium calls for at least two venues which can hold 70.000 seats or more. In Rotterdam the planned new stadium "De Kuip" aimes for at least 75.000 seats! That sparked an idea in Amsterdam to build a national stadium with an ever bigger capacity. But that is just a discussion of which I do not hear much at the moment. Since Ajax has a 30 year rental deal with the Amsterdam ArenA (still 18 years to go if they don't do a buy-out) I do not see that happening soon. The expansion I do expect to be realised, especially when the final stadium plans in Rotterdam are finished and published. Amsterdam wants her stadium to be the biggest in the country, Rotterdam wants the best football stadium of the country. That is a big difference! |

Cool. i hope it will be realized.
Because Amsterdam Arena Advisory is also involved in the new Galatasaray stadium. So a possible expansion of the GS stadium could be also possible. We have the same her in Turkey GS announced his stadium (52,500 with retraceable roof9 6 months later FB announced that they want to increase to 56,509 (+6,000 seats) and add a retraceable roof
