stop jumping on the couch, the nakheel tower is not gonna be delayed, they have already started working on the foundations which will take 3 years alone to complete, nakheel is delaying other projects so that this will stay on course.hopefully within 3 years the market will regain some confidence and the remaining projects will be done, remeber in dubai alone there are more than $500 billion of projects planned or U/C,so it wont hurt them to push back a few things.over

"Nakheel’s plans to build the tallest tower in the world will not be stalled by a slowdown in the property market in Dubai, but the master developer has put on hold taking on new projects for the time being, chief executive Chris O’Donnell said.

With foundation work on the 1.4km-high skyscraper underway, the property market would be “moving positively” again by the time the foundations were complete within two to three years, O’Donnell told Arabian Business.

He said funding for the $38.12 billion project, unveiled last month, would be secured by the sale of land around the tower to other developers."

u say lets get back to kuwait but yet u say "too many built space there is empty" ? ur pretty much asking for a response that will be off topic. and where do u get the space is empty ? go and do some research before posting

http://www.manager-magazin.de/koepfe...1415-3,00.html

Al least in this article a manager says that there is an enormous empty space at the moment. Since many people try to sell their real estate and at least apartments can only be sold if they are already empty. So many people have left them to get rid of them!

2016 ?

Name: Burj Mubarak al Kabir
where: Kuwait
Cost: $7.37 billion
Estimated Completion: 2016
The Challenge: Erect a 3,300-foot building that’s strong enough to withstand 150mph winds
The Empire State Building claimed the world’s-tallest title for four decades. Today’s record-holder, the more-than-2,300-foot Burj Dubai, will be lucky to keep it for four years. The Kuwaiti government is about to break ground on the City of Silk, a designed-from-scratch metropolis on the Tigris and Euphrates river delta with a 3,284-foot tower as its centerpiece. At that height, winds could sway a conventional skyscraper like a tree branch and turbulent vortices could shake it to smithereens.
So instead of building one shaky tower, London-based architect Eric Kuhne designed the Mubarak skyscraper as three interlocking towers, each twisting 45 degrees top to bottom to help stabilize it. The inside edges of the buildings meet in the center to form a triangular shaft through the middle. No matter which way the wind blows, two of the three towers will always brace the building.
Although the three-pronged design keeps the high-rise from swaying, it doesn’t counter the choppy winds that whip around the uppermost stories, which can cause damaging vibrations. So Kuhne is trying something never before done on a building: giving it vertical ailerons, the normally horizontal flaps on the trailing edge of aircraft wings that control rolling motion. The ailerons, which are only three to six feet wide, run the full length of each edge of the towers and mechanically adjust to redirect the changing winds around the structure and scatter the vortices, mitigating vibrations.
The Mubarak’s size is intended to accommodate Kuwait’s explosive population growth, with seven 30-story neighborhoods stacked atop one another, each with apartments, offices and hotels, and four-story “town squares” linking them. Even the height has a cultural significance, Kuhne says. “One thousand and one meters for [the classic Arabian fairy tale] One Thousand and One Nights. It’s the difference between bragging rights and telling a story.”

any mod change title the tower is "Burj Mubarak al Kabir"

"The Kuwaiti government is about to break ground on the City of Silk"
not the tower itself

Actually it gives us estimated completion as 2016 so it's for sure not for a whole city. If i remember right its going to take something around 20 years. So i think the date is for the tower but if so, the article is even less honest, becouse its propably imposible to bulid such thing in 6 years when they propably haven't even start with soil testing.

We have to be patient on this project, this thing will truely be massive (unless the design changes) its a marathon and will take about 4 times longer than Burj Dubai.

The price seem about right. (but of course they will go over budget )

There is no way they can complete the tower by 2016

I am agree, 2016 seem premature and I always heard 2025 for the entire city of Silk project. BTW the burj mubarak seem more massive than the nakheel Harbour tower.

ENORMOUS PROJECT...THOUGH I DOUBT IT WILL EVER BE BUILT !

It's no time for mega-projects right now...and it's not like Kuwait is already in the center of the Map, as Dubai succeeded in achieving before even Burj Dubai works got started...

No, but Dubai started also it's mega-projects as a "no name" and thus gained attention. Why shouldn't Kuwait follow this example? I guess we will soon see a lot to rise there in Kuwait!

It could be an amazing feeling to wake up in 1 km height . And even to go asleep!
Let's have a look: The more high you are, the longer day you have! You will see an amazing sunset as the last person at the exact location - people at the ground will have a night in that moment. And you will be the first out from the bed, because you will see the sunrise as the first one..
Wouldn't it be great? .
