Things are coming along nicely. Hopefully we will see some of them completed fairly soon.

Great updates, it looks like Rio is going all out to put on a good games. Where is the location of these complexes in the city (sorry if it has already been told). Is there any PT to the complexes?

The Aquatic Center and the Rio Olympic Arena are located in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of the city. The Olympic Stadium is located in Engenho de Dentro, a suburb of Rio. What is a PT?

thanks for the info, I don't think I saw those parts of the city when i was there (mostly just hung around downtown and usual tourist haunts).

PT is for public transportation.

The Aquatic Center and the Rio Olympic Arena are located in Jacarepaguá, beside the Jacarepaguá's Speedway, not in Barra da Tijuca...

so what is the schedule for the opening of the João Havelange stadium? It looks to have a great deal of work to get finished in 6 months. The roofing looks like it is fairly behind schedule to be complete by the games. I find it strange they are not using stationary constuctions cranes on the outside in addition to the tracked cranes on the inside. The progress seems very fast as the photos I saw from the engineering company's website in febuary 2006 had the stadium in the very starting stage of construction. Is there a plan to shift workers and equipment from other sites that are completed ahead of the stadium? I am sure trademen from the athletes village could help out bigtime.

The stadium will be complete in May. There is no need to shift workers and equipments, because there are people working during all day to complete the stadium on schedule.

This is the old render. The company involved in the construction of the Speedway Complex, give up and the city had to build all the buildings alone. For that reason the project was simplified. These are the new renders:

Rio Olympic Arena

Aquatic Center

The two structures in the complex

The stadium was not built in the Speeday Complex, because they want to develop the region that "Engenhão" is located.

Sorry, I didn't answer your question. There are only buses to get to the Speeday Complex and to others places of competion in Barra da Tijuca and Jacarepaguá. To get to the João Havelange Stadium, there are buses and train.
