I don't support your team then, as I want to empower more engagement for what makes our cities. Similar to these, these, these and these guys and gals.
To each his own. Anyway, case closed for now.

I like the idea of the Ferris wheel.

It's not like the London one anyway. This is more like the Star of Nanchang, Singapore Flyer and High Roller.

The London Eye is supported by an A-frame on one side only, unlike the other wheels, the Eye is described by its operators as "the world's tallest cantilevered observation wheel".

Brooklyn’s Hipster Economy Challenges Manhattan Supremacy

Marty Markowitz was strolling in Vienna when he noticed mannequins in a shop window wearing hats emblazoned with Paris, London and Brooklyn. The store had plenty of London and Paris models. Brooklyn was sold out.

“They said they couldn’t restock the Brooklyn hats fast enough,” said Markowitz, 69, who spent 12 years as president of New York City’s most populous borough before retiring in January.

Brooklyn’s cachet as a global brand and epitome of urban hipsterdom is shifting New York City’s center of gravity, reducing the supremacy of Manhattan across the East River and exerting more influence on New York’s political, economic and cultural life. It’s creating jobs and adding residents at a faster pace than any other borough, sparking a boom in commercial development to supply the new masses.

“When we started the Zagat Guide in 1982, we listed about 25 Brooklyn restaurants, and now we list 261,” said Tim Zagat, co-founder of the survey. “Brooklyn was scary 20 years ago. Now it’s the hottest part of the city.”

In the second half of the 20th century, Brooklyn was a symbol of urban decay from which middle-class taxpayers fled for the suburbs, escaping a downward spiral symbolized by the 1957 move of the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team to Los Angeles.

SHoP's Soaring 111 West 57th Street Tower Gets Two New Renderings

Quote:
SHoP's elegant West 57th Street superscraper-to-be has a few new renderings that illustrate just how impressive and slender it is. Developed by JDS and PMG, the 1,350-foot tower now has a visualization from the loop in Central Park and a new render providing a closer look at the terracotta facade's textural detail. The renderings were first spotted by NY YIMBY on the SHoP Architects website. As of mid-February all permits and funds were in place to begin construction of the building that will see the preservation and integration of the site's existing Steinway Building facade and the gutting of its interiors.

341 Eastern Parkway revealed:

Quote:
It's been seven years since work first began at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, and now, after a few design changes and an owner swap, the eight-story condo building shows itself to the world. A weekend walk down the parkway revealed that the building's scaffolding is now gone, giving the first good look at the Meshberg Group-designed building.

Revealed: 42-12 28th Street, Tallest Residential Tower in Queens

Quote:
The first renderings for 42-12 28th Street have been posted on-site; developer Heatherwood Communities is building the 58-story skyscraper, which will become the tallest residential tower in Brooklyn and Queens. The site is located in Long Island City’s Court Square neighborhood, and the architect of record is Goldstein, Hill, & West.

Going above what is typically posted to the sides of construction fences, the series of four images reveal the tower within its future surroundings; the aesthetic is simple and glassy, typical of new developments in Long Island City, though zig-zagging lines of a white material break up the facade’s monotony.

Above anything else, 42-12 28th Street’s defining characteristic will be its height, which will distinguish the structure from neighboring high-rises; rising 646 feet, it will stand only twelve feet shy of the soon-to-be un-monolithic One Court Square.
Work is already underway:

Landmarked Synagogue to Develop Neighboring Condos

Quote:
A new nine-story structure is coming to a long-stalled site at 8 West 70th Street. The rather contemporary building is being developed by the neighboring Congregation Shearith Israel and is designed by Platt Byard Dovell White, New York YIMBY reports. The new structure will serve as an addition to the landmarked temple and includes several floors of community and synagogue space, and four full-floor condos on the fifth through ninth stories, with a duplex condo stretching over the two uppermost stories. The building will occupy 41,565 square feet, 21,551 of which will be devoted to its residential component.

West 57th Street's BIG Pyramid Takes Shape

Quote:
When it comes to construction-watching on 57th Street, most eyes are on the supertall towers rising just south of Central Park, but the western-most part of the street is also worthy of attention. BIG's sloping magical mountain is currently rising at 625 West 57th Street between 11th and 12th Avenues. Over the weekend, Field Condition snapped some photos of the in-progress building, which currently sits at the fourth floor. The pyramid shape is not quite obvious yet, but the angular balconies are visible along the 57th Street side. When complete in 2015, the 709-unit rental building will peak at 450 feet.

Barclays Center to Sprout a Sound-Absorbing Green Roof

The arena pictured with phased Atlantic Yards development

Quote:
The logo-emblazoned roof of the Barlcays Center is going from white to green. The Journal reports that the arena's developer, Forest City Ratner, is bringing back a plan to cover the top of the structure with a 130,000-square-foot green roof. When the first designs for the arena were unveiled more than a decade ago, a lushly planted roof was part of the project, but the feature was cut to save money. But now that the first residential tower of Atlantic Yards is underway, Forest City resurrected the plan in part because it will make the apartments overlooking the arena more marketable—gazing down upon a grassy lawn will be much more pleasing than looking at a bright white and blue bank logo. Ultimately, three of the 15 Atlantic Yards towers will be built directly beside the Barclays Center.

The green roof, currently being designed by SHoP Architects, will also help to muffle loud concerts, though Forest City says that sound reduction did not drive their decision in bringing back the roof. That said, Barclays has been hit with multiple noise complaints from loud concerts; last year, the arena was fined $3,200 after a Swedish House Mafia concert.

MoMA Files $1.6M Plan to Raze Folk Art Building

Quote:
The Museum of Modern Art has filed an application with the city’s Department of Buildings for what amounts to a $1.6 million demolition job at the American Folk Art Museum site on West 53rd Street.

The major alteration application, filed last Friday, calls for a series of jobs including removal of all above-grade stories, plumbing fixtures and piping as well as the mechanical equipment. The DOB plans come about a year after the museum announced its intention to demolish the folk art building, at 45 West 53rd Street between Fifth Avenue and Avenue of the Americas. Architecture firm The Mufson Partnership, led by designer Christina Powaday, is handling the project.

Following much protestation and controversy over the building’s demolition, MoMA called for the restoration of the 82-foot-high sculptural ensemble of 63 panels, which make up the majority of the facade of the Tod Williams Billie Tsie Architects-designed folk art building, the New York Times previously reported. The rest of the building will be demolished and the replacement structure will link with existing MoMA galleries as well as with space to the west that MoMA owns, three floors of a residential tower being developed by Hines at 53 West 53rd Street. The project is slated for a 2018 or 2019 completion and includes a MoMA building redesign. The 40,000-square-foot expansion, including 14,000 square feet in the new folk art museum building, will allow the museum to improve public accessibility in its public spaces and galleries and allow the museum to reconceive the presentation of its collection and exhibitions.
Coming soon:

No office buildings pictured. But those are the first 3 of 15 residential towers planned at that site.

The fact that these are residential towers doesn't make them prettier.

And isn't it kind of weird that there have already been numerous noise complaints about this arena and now they build three residential towers adjacent to it.

Sick world.
