Hopefully they choose a good stone for the base, otherwise it would look tacky.

Glassy Condos Oddly Dubbed 'The Baron' To Rise in Astoria

Quote:
A rather large condo building will soon sprout on Broadway at 14th Street in Astoria (note: not Long Island City). The glassy development, to be known as The Baron, will rise eight-stories and have 77 one- to three-bedroom apartments ranging in size from 500 to 1,500-square-feet, reports Queens Courier (h/t DNAinfo). Raymond Chan designed the very-terraced building and New York Lions Group is the developer.

I'm very excited about this project. The building looks fantastic and the location is awesome!

Is the building above being integrated with an existing street level facade? Or will that be new? Either way I really like it.

One World Trade Center Opens, Welcomes Conde Nast

Quote:
One World Trade Center opened its doors (technically, spun its revolving doors) this morning, and Conde Nast CEO Charles Townsend, Port Authority Executive Director Pat Foye and several other people addressed the media outside the tower's south entrance at 285 Fulton Street. Unfortunately, situated as we were behind three rows of news cameras, we couldn't make out much of what anyone was saying over the noise from nearby construction sites and the traffic on West Street. One gentleman, pictured above, spoke louder than the rest, though, and we were able to glean the following: "Whether you're driving in ... part of the skyline ... tragedy ... Conde Nast ... couldn't be happier ... World Trade Center and Conde Nast. Thank you." You can probably fill in the blanks, more or less. The words "a great day" were also occasionally audible.

Trinity Church Plans To Build At Least 4 Residential Towers

Quote:
Crain's reports that the church's property arm, Trinity Real Estate, is now looking into developing up to four luxury towers in the neighborhood, in addition to a mixed-use tower at the site of the church's downtown property.

The church will soon begin seeking a partner for a planned 430-foot-tall, 300,000-square-foot residential building in Hudson Square on a lot between Canal, Varick, and Grand streets and Sixth Avenue that will have a 444-seat public school at its base. Farther down the pipeline, Crain's reports Trinity is also looking into developing 4 Hudson Square, a 1 million-square-foot development site between Hudson, Varick, Spring, and Vandam streets that can likely give rise to one residential and one office tower. The church hasn't elaborated further on the other towers they plan to bring to Hudson Square.

Soho Condo Building 27 Wooster Is Starting to Fill Out

Quote:
Field Condition recently got inside the under-construction 27 Wooster in Soho, which has topped out and is now having its facade installed. The 9-story, 16-unit building is designed by architects Kohn Pederson Fox and, while it is basically still a shell, will eventually be fully clad in dark gray and white metal. The units, with interiors by Thomas Juul Hansen, will range in size from around 2,500 square feet to 6,700 square feet (the penthouse).

The Redhook Proposal is pretty cool, only one problem redhook has barely any conection to the city's transit system since the collapse of the BMT in the 1940s.

This Is What's Rising On Central Park's Northwest Corner

Quote:
Where there once was a BP gas station, there will soon be a curved, glassy apartment building. Last December, it was revealed that a mixed-use building would replace a gas station on Central Park's northwest corner at 2040 Frederick Douglass Boulevard, and now Harlem Gal has the first rendering of the building, showing a 12-story building with multiple setbacks. The curved facade is mostly glass and dominated by floor-to-ceiling windows, but the side will be clad in grey brick. FXFOWLE designed the structure, and permits filed with the Department of Buildings show that it will measure 87,776 square feet and hold 50 units.
