You have to view it from the side street to observe that it's a porker with a big, J Lo butt.

P.S.: The two lousy buildings in the foreground of the first photo will be redeveloped in time. 8th Ave is still shoddy.

Per Crain's Today, it looks like JDS is going to be bringing Brooklyn its first supertall!

EDIT: Realized, this should be in the Development News thread, not Projects and Construction.

The view to downtown and midtown from this tower would be stunning!

New rendering of 514 W. 24th "The Fitzroy"

http://www.romanandwilliams.com/the-fitzroy/

It's right next to Cary Tamarkin's 508 W. 24th, making that corner look like it stepped out of the 1930s.

After going through the past 4 pages of this thread, somehow even more breath taken than the last time. Just awesome. New York City clearly building the best modern architecture in the world- which is obviously no mean feat. But then, and i still can't can't believe it, the city is somehow simultaneously leading the way in new heritage inspired buildings too. The warehouse/brick building s going up are great. That neo gilded age one mentioned is incredible too. And the neo deco stern efforts are mostly very commendable. And none of it seems pastiche or post modern, or tacky. It's all very impressive and because of this I think NYC is still clearly well ahead of anywhere else architecturally. It's so enchanting to witness an already brilliant city so rapidly beautifying itself, skyline wise and much more importantly at street level in the smaller buildings and public spaces.

I need to visit

Steel, Limestone, and Brick in Soho

Permits Filed: 146 Wooster Street, Soho

Quote:
A combination of landmarking and unusual manufacturing zoning have frozen Soho in the early 20th century, but every once in a while, a developer scoops up a non-contextual and underutilized property hidden among the cast iron 19th century facades. One of those builders, KUB Capital, has filed plans to erect an eight-story, six-unit building at 146-150 Wooster Street, between West Houston and Prince Street.

Landmarks has already approved the design, which will feature a facade clad in steel, limestone, and brick. The apartments will be stacked on top of two 3,000-square-foot retail spaces,

NEW YORK | Projects & Construction

Revenue work is sharply in 2014 for design firms in the New York region, aided by M&A activity and a boom in the high-end residential sector.

Thanks & Regards
