It seems the Bronx is about to get 2 new skyscrapers!

The South Bronx is about to experience an unprecedented construction boom, and the Chetrit Group and Somerset Partners have jumped on the bandwagon by filing new building applications for two 25-story towers at 101 Lincoln Avenue and 2401 3rd Avenue in Mott Haven.... More in the article!

Chelsea - 559 WEST 23RD STREET

559 WEST 23RD STREET

Quote:
Itís been a long, long road for the lot at 559 West 23rd Street, but it seems the oft-stalled development there is finally becoming a reality. Though details were scant the last time we checked in, more information is now available from Corcoran, which is representing the building. Itíll be a 13-story building with six three-bedroom condos, each of which will come with double-height ceilings and private outdoor spaces. The units begin at $4.5 million and sales are expected to begin in October.

This is beautiful. It's amazing that in this day and age we still have architects who can design such marvels.

New building applications filed yesterday call for a 170-foot-tall building with 39 apartments. They’ll be spread across 100,194 square feet of residential space, with average units clocking in at a family-sized 2,569 square feet. Clearly these will be condos, and based on the size, we expect plenty of three-bedroom units.
13-Story, 47-Unit Residential Project At 70 Vestry Street Lands Financing, Tribeca

Quote:
The building will measure 154,019 square feet in total, and includes roughly 800 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. Robert A.M. Stern is designing, while Ismael Leyva is serving as the architect of record. Demolition permits have already been approved to raze the site’s existing tenement and low-rise buildings.

666 Fifth Ave. may be transformed into a slender tower
September 10, 2015
By Amanda Fung

Quote:
The office tower at 666 Fifth Ave. may be turned into a mall, hotel and residential tower.

The Pritzker Prize-winning architect Zaha Hadid has already prepared a plan that would restack 666 Fifth Ave. into a slender, super-tall hotel and residential tower above a vertical retail podium. Vornado controls the property's retail condominium, which it bought from Mr. Kushner, Carlyle and Crown Acquisitions three years ago for $710 million.
I made a thread for this one too, sounds exciting!

The brown building to the left needs to come down too!!! Death to all NY's ugly towers. Every time a hideous box like that is due to be demolished or replaced, I jump for joy mon. Such towers were a crime.

Just realised that. My mistake. Still a nice building nonetheless.

Believe it or not, our beloved forumer ThatOneGuy doesn't support the demolition of this building for a potential 1400-foot Zaha Hadid designed building.

It's completely ridiculous to demolish skyscrapers like this when there are still dilapidated lowrises to build on.

I truly never thought there'd be people who'd actually admire the 1980's Po-Mo style but to each his own
