Judge Gives the Go Ahead to Barry Diller’s Pier 55 Offshore Park

Years ago there was a floating art barge kitted out with park greenery that went around Manhattan. Diller probably was influenced by that.

WTH!
You worry about ladders and barrels, instead of complaining about the destruction of the beautiful old historic buildings, which at worst are destroyed even today - although this era - should have ended long ago.
How so forth will be in NY (as can be in London), this will be with those ugly balconies, ladders and barrels, but not buildings!
For example One Vanderbilt Place, destroy good old building and build new good tower..
Best if these old buildings to revitalize and extend their new towers on them, leaving the as basis an old building prop example: http://inhabitat.com/sky-garden-skys...iel-libeskind/

The plot of the ruins, free space out of the center are logically cheaper than the old, great historical buildings in the city center, if they were bought and built there skyscrapers, it would have been cheaper (cost of the plot), and the spared money could be for constructed higher the tower, or more awesome design type: superultra, or art deco .

I do not understand how is it possible that in the case of new projects are still being built these tank with water and ventilators - in the case of high-rise buildings of the most bizarre appearance, apply are any other solutions.

These water tanks and ladder fire to old buildings do not look elegant, but create a gloomy atmosphere Gotahm city, similar like chimneys.
Gotham city had interesting architecture, though it was quite dirty and the like in NY some old buildings be in disrepair.

45 East 22nd Street progress... I can't wait for the slanted roof and the cladding to emphasize the chamfered corners.

What a beauty! Blends in perfectly with its surroundings but you can see that it's a bit too glossy to be an old building.

possibly more importantly out of Brooklyn...

Development Team to Buy Jehovah’s Witnesses’ 11-Story Headquarters at 25-30 Columbia Heights, Vacant Site at 85 Jay Street

Quote:
RFR Holding, LIVWRK, and Kushner Companies are preparing to enter into contract to purchase the 11-story, 733,000-square-foot office complex at 25-30 Columbia Heights, in Brooklyn Heights, in addition to the vacant full-block, 135,000-square-foot development site at 85 Jay Street, in DUMBO, from the Jehovah’s Witnesses. The team of developers are paying $700 million for the properties, according to the New York Post. 25-30 Columbia Heights, which is commonly called the “Watchtower,” is the organization’s current headquarters. It could possibly be turned into a commercial hub, similar to how the same developers converted the former Jehovah’s Witnesses properties at 81 Prospect Street into offices back in 2014. As for 85 Jay Street, the site has been long approved for roughly 1.1 million square feet of development. That’s as many as 700 to 1,000 residential units, which could boost the neighborhood’s population by a third, Brownstoner reported a few months ago.

It doesn't always hurt in a good way like 30 Park Place or Steinway Tower though...

New York, you can be so freckin' depressing!

Demolition of 68 Trinity Place (Trinity Court Building, 1927, 114m/25 floors):

And this is the nondescript, bland, exchangeable and disharmonic glassy shite we get for the lost marvel:

http://newyorkyimby.com/2014/09/perm...44-floors.html

Seriously. WTF.

Though at least there was one much more fitting and interesting design for the Trinity Church neighborhood, but of course they go for the much worse: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...hp?p=105608165

Later they announced they might just go for 25 storeys, meaning they could have just saved the building... Jeez!
A total fail by the Landmark Preservation Commission and the Trinity Church. It's unbelievable. Read this, you'll be "enlightened" for sure.
THE CHURCH DOES THIS!

Let them greedy "clerics" know what you think about this:

And the LPC in charge of NYC landmarks as well: http://www.nyc.gov/html/lpc/html/contact/contact.shtml
