This is the proof that a single building can ruin a whole skyline.

I don't see that at all.
I see the next development of Manhattan, I'm sure people said that about every notable building that has gone up in the skyline over history - it sure does here in London.
Once this wave of Supertalls is built it will just add another layer to the incredible human endeavour of the built environment. Manhattan is far to important and powerful to let one building 'ruin' it's skyline.

Design accidents like Verizon and MetLife only add to the charm, and so does 432 Park Ave in the same way.

That tower just gives one eye cancer. There's nothing even remotely as disproportioned and unfitting as that 3rd graders imagination of a skyscraper. Slash it to 1/4 of it's hight and it's just another boring building that hopefully gets overlooked and overshadowed by it's peers but this is so huge it will ruin this part of Manhatten's skyline for as long as it stands.

It's a sleek beauty that improves the skyline.

When I was a kid I was also fascinated about large trucks, large buildings, large planes, etc. At some point I developed some sense of proportion and understood that larger does not always mean better.

...The Verizon is just in the wrong location,The Met Life is a magnificent piece of architecture and,of course,432 is a pure masterpiece.

The spire of Vanderbilt lacks elegance. It looks like it's broken or unfinished. It looks even worse compared to the brilliance of Chrysler and Empire State.

NEW YORK | Projects & Construction

It's better than Chicago's Trump tower, 1 WTC, or CPT spire. But out of all the architecture firms KPF does know how to design towers with spires compared to the rest

One Vanderbilt is like a crossover between the Shard, the Transamerica Tower and a touch of the Bank of America Tower.

I'm pleased for you, but never did I suggest bigger was better. I was merely stating that your idea that this building ruins the skyline truly suggests you don't understand Manhattan at all, nor the evolution of cities and how they progress.

Fair enough that you may dislike this tower, criticism is always welcome but to suggest it's impact goes beyond your opinion is flawed.

This is really nice. More condo towers should look like this.

One Vanderbilt looks gorgeous, definitely one of my favorite designs, BoA Tower's taller sister (and it's only three blocks away!). 432 Park Avenue and Hudson Yards should take notice, this is how you design a classy tower.

New York is not Rotterdam;as the Meca of architecture it is supposed to embrace different styles.
Also, the comparison with BOA is kinda whimsical imo...
