New Goethals Bridge

The Goethals bridge replacement is also moving ahead quickly.

All but the first photo are mine, from last week, on Flickr.

If you wonder where I got these, I highly recommend the Fresh Kills park tour, run infrequently by classic harbor line with aiany and the fresh kills park alliance.

The Port Authority also has live cams of this project.

Thanks for adding these!

Fans of infrastructure and/or pyrotechnics should also mark their calendar. The old Kosciuszko bridge will be blown up July 11th:

Interesting bridge projects! Though I wouldn't like to see the old bridges vanishing.
Are they completely getting replaced or will they (or parts of them) remain?

East River Greenway

East River Greenway inches forward with $100M cash infusion

Quote:
In theory, one of the final pieces of the East River Greenway was supposed to be on its way to completion by now. Plans for the parcel of undeveloped waterfront, which stretches from 38th to 60th streets on Manhattan’s East Side, have been in the works for more than a decade...

...Today, Mayor de Blasio announced that the city would invest $100 million in a plan to build a waterfront esplanade that would stretch from 61st to 53rd streets, with construction due to start in 2019. The New York City Economic Development Corporation will head up the project, with several government agencies—including the Army Corps of Engineers and the New York state DEC—already signing off on it...

...“The Hudson River Greenway has vastly improved quality of life on the West Side, and we want families in every corner in the borough to have that same access to bike, walk and play along the water,” Mayor de Blasio said in a statement. “This is the first of many big investments we’ll make as we bring the full Greenway to reality.”

Financial District - 45 Broad St

Financial District's planned supertall at 45 Broad Street is ready to rise

Quote:
The Financial District’s latest planned supertall is officially moving forward after the development team held a groundbreaking ceremony at the construction site, at 45 Broad Street, Wednesday morning.

The 1,115-foot tower is being developed in a joint venture by Madison Equities, Chinese real estate firm Gemdale, and Italian real estate company, the Pizzarotti Group.

Murray Hill - 299 Lexington Ave

Quote:
Albert Shirian of the NY Lions Group is the developer, and the new structure will stand 14 stories tall. With only 40 units, the building will be of a smaller scale than typical new developments in the neighborhood; that list includes 160 Madison Avenue and the soon-to-rise 172 Madison Avenue, both located just two blocks to the west.

Under Construction
