I love how there's growth on both opposite sides across manhattan. The city core continues to expand beyond the island. The view coming in from the harbor will be amazing once brooklyn and jersey city complete their respective tallest constructions. All sides will be flanked by skyscrapers.

There is not a single burka in the picture.

Maybe RegentHouse meant to say:

"Case in point, none of* the women in the photograph are wearing burkas, when ten years ago it may or may not have occurred, depending on which dignitaries were invited and from where the investment was coming, as foreign investment in property has been coming from a wide range of countries and investors for decades**"

I love these new developments inspired by the architectual history of their location. Very classy. There seem to be quite a few going up in New York.

In Australia we are too scared to build stuff that doesn't look modern and international.

Jamaica, Queens -- 90-02 168th St

Jamaica stays hot: Big project set to rise on parking lot
A vacant development site will house a 300-unit apartment and retail complex

Quote:
Another large development project is coming to downtown Jamaica, Queens, where the city, the state and a local economic development corporation are trying to revitalize the neighborhood with more than $100 million worth of investments.

A partnership between BRP Cos. and Wharton Properties is planning to build a half-million-square-foot complex on a parking lot at the eastern end of the downtown business district. The trio of buildings will include 70,000 square feet of retail and 300 rent-regulated apartments for a variety of incomes. Around 10% of the units will be set aside for artists.

Jamaica is rapidly transforming. There are many apartment and hotels U/C in the neighborhood. It's a portal to the city from Long Island. A new skyline materializing here is not out of the realm of possibility.
