That looks like Warsaw! And I don't mean that as a compliment.

And yet not nearly as horrible as that Viñoly monstrosity reported above it.

Note that that first image is from an unrelated project similar in intent from back in 2008. I guess that that luckily never saw the light of day.

Looking up Warsaw on google, I don't see a lot of buildings like that. Hardly anything really in the center. They might exist, but its not typical. I see a lot of soviet era architecture and modernist towers that don't resemble these at all.

Warsaw is quite nice too. I think its underrated, despite the soviet architecture. Old Warsaw would put NY to shame.

Jersey City - One Journal Square

Scaled Back One Journal Square Gains Approval

Quote:
hile still large, the latest version of the project is definitely scaled back. Designed by Australia-based Woods Bagot, it will still feature a 10-story base and two towers, but they will be 56 stories each. Nonetheless, both buildings will rise 758 feet into the air and essentially be 66-stories tall, sporting 1,512 units of housing between them....

...The Journal Square Plaza in front of the building will be revitalized under the plans, taking a dilapidated stretch featuring a fountain that hasn’t worked in over half a decade and replacing it with seating areas, a lawn, and planted trees.

Previous Design on left.... New Design on right

That is nice. Good news for JC. The new design is better than the boring box. The area should be well on its way to gentrification in the years to come.

I was referring to this project on Marszałkowska :

New York must do better than that!

Lol, that's a great building. What kind of ridiculous expectations do you have?.

The One Journal Square looks just too much like BIG's 2WTC.

True, but this is in a neighborhood which is rather deprived and the market is average folks.

I admit that my judgment was rather superficial and without taking the sociology into account. But here in Europe, we are still feeding on the myth of the elegant New York that is 20 years ahead of how we build, starting, roughly, in 1900.
