Seeing those shots, I think now that the spire will start higher than the actual state: some cladding will be needed to hide the BMU and rise the top part a bit higher.

So everything will be kept in proportion according to the renderings
Not neccessarily. The BMU should be retractable (vertically)

Yes, but I see no reason to have the spire already "cladded" and not its basis.
I'm sure the building structure will raise up until it reaches the bottom of the finished spire.

If you look at the top edges, you'll see some hooks already installed.

Wait and see...

A quote from AltinD in post#12 if this thread:
Quote:
This is a high-tech, hi-security tower where the Diamonds cutting and exchange will take place. This tower will be home to what is seen as direct competitor to Antwerp.

Well, that would be possible, and it will also correct the problem of the disproportionate tall spire, we are seeing at the moment.

Even though it has topped out, there are still tons of jobs to do, especially the cladding and the interior parts. The opening may not be at the end of 2008.

Is Almas Tower expected to be completed this year, or will it be in 2009?

The glass color looks fine, but we will need to wait until the cladding is done and all the protective components are removed, to see the results. The pre-construction visualizations were quite ambitious.

Thanks Imre.

Looks like they are focusing on the interior now, I don't see many exterior changes during last two months...

This sounds really unrealistic considering the tower is not even finished:

DMCC will relocate to own offices at Almas Tower from Tuesday
Staff Report
19 July 2008, 23:05

Dubai: Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) will relocate to the Almas Tower, and will be fully operational from its new offices from Tuesday, according to an announcement.

DMCC's new offices are located on the 49th, 50th and 51st floors of the 65-floor Almas Tower, within the Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) development.

"DMCC's relocation to its own offices at Almas Tower marks a significant milestone for us, and the first phase in the development of a commodity-specific physical cluster in Dubai," said Ahmad Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, DMCC.

"We look forward to offering seamless services to our members from within a single location. Almas Tower is the flagship of the JLT development and will represent the newest hub for commodity trading in the Middle East," he added.

The DMCC offices will be closed on July 20 and 21, to facilitate the move.
