Anyone else find it ironic that this building is named 'The Address' in a city that doesn't have addresses? That'll cause a LOT of confusion trying to get to it in a taxi.

'Where to?'

'The Address'

'We don't have addresses.'

'I know. But I live at The Adress.'

'They built an address?

Me too. I think BDLH sounds much better. It its also special because no other building can have that title, while many buildings will have "The Address."

They should have left it as the Burj Dubai Lake Hotel, it says it all, and it associates it with water, which in Dubai doesn't hurt.

Yes they have ... and that seams to even include the beacon lights on top.

The spires look great. I wonder if they'll get red beacons or flashing white beacons at the top. I prefer the white flashing ones for some reason.

It really isn't a stupid rename, Burj Dubai Lake Hotel was a stupid name, why not call it "that building with the silly spire thats near the big one and close to the old town".

The address is a much better name, because its a name rather than a vague description of it's location.

Surely if Dubai doesn't have any addresses no confusion would arrise, so the conversation would be more like:

Where to?

The address

Ah yes the building we have which is called the address, that instantly makes sense to me as we have only one thing called the address, isn't that convenient.

But you made a few people giggle so fair enough.

"The Address" does sound more professional. Burj Dubai Lake Hotel made it sound like it's physically connected to Burj Dubai when in fact it's it's own building and really has nothing to do with Burj Dubai.

It's like calling the John Hancock Center the Sears Tower Lake Hotel or Jin Mao the SWFC River Hotel. Good to see that it finally has it's own name.

Actually, "The Address" is the name of a new hotel chain. As of now, there will be three different The Addresses in Dubai: Burj Dubai Lake Hotel, Dubai Mall Hotel and the Marina Hotel & Residence. So, by just saying "The Address," there will three different options for the taxi and I am sure the driver will go to the one that is farthest away.
