Just saw that the Address Hotel is on fire. CNBC reported just that, therefore I have no idea which Address building it is. They are clueless that three buildings all around the Burj Khalifa have Address in their name. I just hope it is not the Address Downtown which is my favorite of the three. Nonetheless hate to see any of the three on fire.

Well that confirms my suspicions that it is in fact the Address Downtown. Hate to see one of the fanciest buildings in Dubai in such condition. Let's hope everyone is ok even though unfortunately casualties are likely.

"A fire engulfed The Address Hotel in downtown Dubai in the United Arab Emirates hours before a large fireworks display was set to start nearby from the Burj Khalifa tower, the world's largest building, a Reuters witness said."

With so much vertical flame propagation, it's likely that only the facade is burning. The lights are on in the building, so the electrical system isn't toasted. It won't look pretty come the morning, but I doubt it is as dramatic as it may appear. Remember that fires are the most visible in darkness.

Christ Almighty, enough with the fires in Dubai, I really love the Address Downtown and now its going to look like a complete eyesore and embarrass to Dubai's skyline along with the Torch. Dubai's fire department really has to step up.

I'm sorry for my double post, however in this rare case it is necessary. I been looking at pictures of the fire and it looks like it has spread to the buildings interior and it looks way to out o control to stop the fire. Thousands of people must be displaced in Dubai, it must be crazy. I wonder what they are going to do with the New Years Eve, live streaming fireworks won't look so great with a major fire dwelling in the background. Also I wonder how chaotic downtown must be right now.
