It's going to take a lot of Febreeze to get rid of the smell in there.

The cause might be something like BBQ on the Balcony, like it was at the Torch. Until now I do not know what was the cause of Fire on the Tamweel Tower in JLT. But, all of those fires on Highrises in Dubai the last 4 years had something in common. The façade was catching fire and fire spread like hell. So, it's obvious that there is something wrong with the fire resistance of the façades.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but how do they manage to calm down the fire in this kind of buildings that are so tall?

I've heard from various news outlets that people think it was a curtain on the 20th floor which started the fire. Also regarding the fact that it was mostly on the facade, based on what I understood there were internal fire extinguishers which made sure that the fire would not spread inside. I think thats what mad the difference.

Rebuild needs sprinklers on the OUTSIDE! (Architects of future buildings take note.)

******* terrible.. the updraft from the bottom of the tower kept blowing flames and the cheap cladding is obviously NOT fire resistant.

Concluding after the fire in The Torch earlier, and now again this one: Dubai skyscrapers are sprouting up fast because of the lack on safety measurements. The building quality overall can not be compared to American or European skyscrapers. I wouldn't feel safe in any of those newly-built residentials in Dubai.

True, but I ment that greenery at least looks better than nothing.

The damage sadly turned out to be almost as bad as i expected 20-30% of the Skyscrapers entire facade needs to be replaced. And there might be internal fire damage many places too.

So who/what is the culprit?
1) Deficiencies in the UAE Building safety code
or
2) Negligence by the developer (Emaar)

???

The UAE government is implementing an investigation and the best approach is to make Emaar liable for damages and for using cheapshit cladding material

Id say both considering they are partly the same. Dubai Government owns a big chunk of Emaar and used to own 100%

I'm sure there's that conspiracy theorist that says this was a terrorist attack of some sort, though I don't see how it could be. Hopefully this gets fixed quickly and the city administration learns from this and improves building codes.
