Interesting and the base is great indeed. However the concept is not new in Dubai. The Capricorn Tower in SZR has already the same concept (the base on a basen of water)

The base reminds me a bit of the base of the citigroup center in NYC.With the free standing cores.

When are they planning to start cladding this thing? (Sorry if it's been answered. I don't follow the construction of this building too closely.)

they have actually started to clad the concrete....hopefully glass will come soon also

This is a great building. Love it. It's in the shadows of the Burj Dubai, but I think that this may turn out to be my favorite building in Dubai.
