The tower looks wonderful, and the placing of the facade is going good. The construction of the upper floor is going well too.

Nice Building but why not taller?!

I think the index is going to look massive. But I've been passing by that building now for months, I used to think that it was an only 33 floor tower because it looks almost its going to finish, specially with the window installing. I am glad you posted the pictures

but I have a question: is there a law that no other building in the DIFC area is allowed to surpass the Emirates tower [/I]? I mean I thought 328 meters is greatly high but difenitly shorter than the tallest built building in the middle east the Jumairah Emirates Office Tower which is 355 meters!:

Don't worry Saed, within a distance of 150 - 200 meters are planed not one but two taller towers:

1. LIGHTHOUSE TOWER: 400 meters tall, within the DIFC area. This is the tower that has the three huge wind turbines integrated on the top of the structure.

2. LANDMARK TOWER: 450 - 500 meters alongside SZR, within the Dubai World Trade Center District. This one not only will be much taller, but being closer to the road then Emirates Towers might even exclipse them. The tower is still under design and would comprise phase 3 of DWTC District re-development.

Thats good news

Thanks for lightin me up . I checked that Land mark and the light house tower. I think DIFC is able to receive more 300+ meter towers. Actually if you compare Dubai with for example NY or Chicago you will find that only 3 buildings above 300M, 44 buildings are 200+M, and chicago on the other hand have 5 300+ and 15 buildings for 200+ only. In Dubai there are 4 300+m towers beside burj dubai and 15 200+ buildings. Not to forget mentioning that how many are almost done in Dubai and underconstruction that are not counted here.

But I have an inquiry; what is qoing on in the block right next to the Emirates towers coming from Zabeel side. The one says on the construction board" once again... history is created"?! I thought they meant by that a taller version of Burj Rashid which is the picture on the const. board there, but I guess not. although I think it will be a brilliant idea to have a 350+ m new Burj Rashid -which used to be Dubai Icon for long- time next to Emirates towers!

That is Dubai World Trade Center District redevelopment that I spoke earlier. The Landmark tower will be there as well.

That's Sky Garden, I think is around 190 meters tall. We have a thread for it on the UAE section of the forum.

Nah, it took around 10 days to complete the 34th floor, certanly not the speed we have seen before on the lower floors.

Construction going slow, I think you are right. You check back in this thread on the 15th of Feb 2007, they were on the 25th floor. They finished less than 10 floors more until now in 4 n half months! thats around 2 floors a month, very slow if you ask me!

The reason for that is becouse it took them 6 weeks to complete the floor 28A becouse of the structural changes in there.

I see. But I have another inquiry about height. Is it more expensive to build higher floors than lower floors? in another word if everything else cost the same will a 60 floor building cost double a 50 floor building? or thats not the case at all?!

Do you mean 60F costing double then a 30F? Absolutely NO since the plot of land would cost the same and marketing and administration costs will be similar.

I would say that material wise building the 60th floor would cost less then the 30th, due to thinner pillars (considering the floor plan is the same on both floors), by the other hand those savings in materials might be offset by the extra costs ocurred to lift those materials up there.

Anyway I'm not a proffessional so can't give you any formula (if there is any).

Cull check the pictures. they have marking for the 100 meters that was on the 22nd floor (above) slab.

You can see in here the red tag partially covered by the cabin of the crane.

Your old diagram was showing the 100 meters mark somewhere on the 25th or 26th floor.

I would estimate, including the added 35th floor, a height of 160 meters, propably a little bit more
