Omaro, thank you for the images. I especially like the ones from the side. We do not get to see The Index from that angle often.

I love the huge numbers on all sides for the floors. And yes, that's the first time I've seen it from the side. It looks kinda like a generic box from that angle.

I wouldn't go as far to say it's Foster's at their best! Beijing Airport, Frankurt Comerzbank, HSBC HK, Milau Viaduct, and the Willis Faber Building. This tower is nice but it doesn't really push any technical boundaries in terms of Fosters work. Just a solid lump of concrete-overclad-probably one of his most inelegant piece's. I've also noticed the cladding is poorly detailed, the front faces don't match the side faces.

However, it is still a cracking builing and a real asset to Dubai, got great presence, a bit lost out there on its own at the moment but does it well.

FOSTER did only the concept design. It was Australia's Wood Bagot who really designed the tower and the structure.

BTW Cul, judging by the location of the red height marking flags, the tower now should be lower then in your diagram. I would say by at least 10 meters.

Ah - if it is 76 floors then that is 10 floors less than the 86 floors indicated in the header for this thread. Perhaps that should be corrected.

The number 86 refers to the total number of levels. To the actuall number 70 you have to add G, M, 28A, 29A & 30A, so there are already 75 levels build above ground.

I don't know if the number 86 includes also the underground floors, but the building has not reached the supertall status yet. A look and analysis of the red flags on the side showing the 150, 200 and 250 meters height, would prove that. It seams the building is just around 290 meters now.

at level 69 it was 269m tall as mentioned by Culwulla so it is now at level 70 thus make it exacetly 300m tall ergo its now a supertall...and not until a red flag was brought onto the tower...

btw thx altin for informing us!.....did you saw progress on the mechs cladding on Burj Dubai?

I am saying that the diagram doesn't seams to much the actual building, and I didn't saw any extra progress on mechanical floors, apart of what documented on my pictures from Saturday or later pics from OTR.

yes looking at those red tags, the 300m is still bit off? ive never liked them. there always dont match.
in this pic,you look at first 150m tag near lv29, if you double it with ruler, its already 300m. so i think its bit out
