I think it will be the same when finished. This is the colour of the panels, looks like a concrete from outside.

maintenance will be easy there

Isn't it possible that once the structure is complete, they'll give the concrete a (white) paint job?

as said on the previous page, i think we can first decide if its ugly or not when its finished, but i still dont get it why they clad the concrete in beige and not in white like shown in the renders.....one mistake in colour choosing and the whole building doesnt look that appealing as in the renders.....hopefully someday they will change those beige cladding panels.....

I think the Index is my favorite building in Dubai. I would want to live in either the Index or Burj Dubai. The Index is just a solid looking building that I love. Looks great.

When I look at the following render, it almost looks like the facade is concrete-colored, especially when looking at parts of the building that aren't illuminated with spotlights (under the shoulder). Perhaps this was the way it was intended all along and the other render just makes it appear brighter/whiter.

The concrete color could also fit in with the description accompanying the following image, which talks about minimalism in design AND color.

totally agree

sometimes i wonder if its the cultural difference in taste that most of the buildings in dubai look that awful to me, but then again, i believe that there is one law of aesthetics, and although it lets you interpret it in many variations, you can't disobey

Nice to see a side shot. It will be great when all that plastic covering is removed...

I'm also looking forward to the top parts being finished and clad. At the moment it looks like a wasp nest or something on top (from a distance...), just a little incongruous I think. Also interesting that it was designed by Foster - he's usually pretty into technology too, so I would imagine this building has some very interesting enviromental systems in it too.

I have to admit though I love the architectural design, the pure concrete look of the fascade is bothering me and doesn't fit in the elegant look of the rest of the skyline buildings.
maybe some lighting will change that once it's finished

It doesnt blend well with other supertalls in the surroundings. Look more a typical Chinese-style concrete supertall than Dubai.

When will the cladding start on the top? Can't wait.
