I think it's excellent that it doesn't blend. I'm tired of the same postmodern junk they erect in Dubai with hideous chunky cladding that looks like lesions on the side of the building. You'll know what I mean if you just take a quick glance at Sheikh Zayed Road.

The minimalism of The Index is perfect, I think, to stand out from all the other gaudy crap in Dubai.
Any of the pics on this page exemplify exactly what I'm talking about: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...381420&page=24

Some may like this, but I just think it's absolutely hideous. I'm not picking on Dubai only. Hong Kong erects the same eyesores for their apartment buildings, although even those are about 50% less gaudy. May just be a sign of the architectural times...

What are they actually doing now on The Index? It's stopped growing externally, I'm not seeing any evidence of any cladding going on the top part, nor of the cladding/facade that will join the top bit with the main upper block... It's like they've just stopped. I do like all the pics, but they aren't showing anything new as far as I can see.

As you can see the tower cranes are still working. But I think they're progressing on the internal works before finishing the facade. So just the normal processes, however not very spectacular anymore..

Buenisimas these photos and the progress of works, etc..
What I never liked the tower, which is how the environment around desentona glazing, but I hope to see it finished because I like not ugly either.

Imre the Photobot Good work man!

Can you take some pics sometime just showing the Index from the sides, especially from a distance?

That upper pic makes me wonder whether Dubai won't one day just totally get buried under sand, heh. And it would be nice to see Dubai without cranes infesting the skyline. That day will come, hopefully not too soon, but soon enough that I can see it. Dubai urgently needs to stop looking like a gigantic construction site. My wife doesn't want to visit whilst it looks like that.

And goddamn does the BD look sexy in its cladding... It's design is both futuristic and timeless - perfect!

I agree both Hong Kong and Dubai at places have a wild mix of different styles. Something that can be spectacular but also look gaudy as you said.
