Does anyone know for sure if its actually 'on hold'? Or are you just hypothesising from the lack of activity in the photos?

I think its on hold.even if maybe they are working inside the building. During these past 2 months, we have seen little or even no progression on the top of the Index. I am very frustrated that its on hold

Simple way to tell. Have the cranes moved in any of the pictures?

It can't be on hold. It's virtually complete.

Its topped out, so why would it be on hold?
Does cladding really cost that much?

Ryugyong Hotel - Pyongyang, North Korea.

It's topped out for 16 years... is not just cladding. Burj Dubai structure cost around 800 mill's, but with the cladding and interiors go up to 4 billions. So even if is TO, and the cladding almost finished, if the interior work is behind, and they run out of money... it could be bad.

Is not about that... I'm saying that even if a building is T/O, it still can be on hold...

Just because is near finished, is not mean it can be finished easy.

If the developers are "only" 15 million short, and don't have that money now... it have to go on hold.

You can see the ropes of the crane are down, which mean it is working atm!
It looks like progress is less because the structure is finished, but interior works take much more time and we cannot see that from the outside...
Be patient.

Does look a bit slow though. Maybe something is amiss but I'd heard that the DIFC had agreed to take a lot of space.

Is there anything going on in Dubai anyway? I haven't checked in supertalls thread for a while, and nothing seems to have changed at all...

I can see crane activity in the Imre's last pics and the index is 85 % complete externally. Like Almas tower, The Index may be open to business before it's complete.

Yes this does happen . The Honk Kong ICC had offices operating long before it topped out.

On Hold is a very unsuitable status for whats going on in this tower. I m sure Ive seen workers there almost every time I pass by!
I think because of the missing cladding of the top part we assume that, but I think its not on hold at all!!

It reminds me of the AT&T Long Lines building in NYC, except this one is covered in louvres. Nice to see brutalism is back in style.
