Finally we get to see work on the top begin. Right now The Index doesn't quite live up to the renders. Hopefully with the cladding complete it'll look much better.

What are they going to create in the top section? Apartments? Offices? Entertainement areas?

I try to like that building but I really can't. It's definitely too heavy compared with some other of Dubai. It looks like architecture of the sixties

I love the heaviness of the design. In a way it shows the building actively shading itself from the sun through the use of thermal mass rather than thin layers of treated glass like many other buildings in Dubai.

I think the way the tiles are positioned on the shoulders looks bad, especially where the horizontal tiles meet the vertical ones. It's like they haphazardly slapped on tiles without any concern over how they line up. I hope it's just the angle of the photo.

It's not the angle sundrop it cetrainly is mis-aligned. This was apparent from the moment they started putting the tiling on. It is a dissapointment.

Yeah, it's pretty shocking. It would have been a simple calculation - all the panels would have remained the same size due to its constant angle. Seems they intended it that way. One of the only design faults though.

Nice to finally see some progress, has been a long time.
But does anyone know how much of the office space and apartments is sold, cuz I'm having the idea it's like only 50% or less.

This tower has the unique accolade of looking uglier and uglier the more it progresses.

I think the shoulder part is recessed slightly from the sides, which is why it looks like the tiles are mis-aligned. IOW, they're fine, it just doesn't look like it.

this is growing on me. when i first looked at the renders and the construction, i thought it would be an ugly building, but as the saying goes you cant judge a book by its cover.

Being a trainee architect myself, i do strive for perfection, and indeed the mis-alignment of the corner panels is pretty shocking. But they are about 300m in the air so i would be pretty concerned if the average passer by was to notice. Unless they have their camera out
