yes, the architect is Norman Foster

i like the concept of the design, but it could have been done much better imo. the whole building should have been brighter, especially the glass. but the most important thing is that this design seems to be timeless, its not following any trend and looks like built for eternity. hope the stone-cladding ages well.

Ok, but I didn't say "WHAT?" for "I don't like it", I say "WHAT?" for "no design". We should be more serious about that. How he can say "no design"?

Lol, "no design" would simply require the construction workers to dump a huge, formless pile of concrete and glass in the sand and leave. That would be "no design." All buildings have a design.

I think what he means by "no design" is no different, unusual shapings of this tower. Only what I can say about the design, is the structure is sooooo wider than anything.

You're not the only one.
I've been following the construction since one of the first posts, and loved the design.
A few months ago, when it was nearby topping-out, i was really disappointed by the colour.
However, the more i look at the structure, the more i'm starting to like it (again).

Just wait and see how it will turn out to be. I think eventually, many of the criticizers will also adjust their opinion.

I'll admit the gray paneling is a little bland, but I think they went against a bright white in the desert and went for the duller color on purpose.

Maybe people will come around. The Parisians hated the Eiffel Tower at first, and they hated Tour Montparnasse. Well, they still do, that's why they don't build skyscrapers except in La Defense.

Most of the time, Foster's projects are definitely beautiful, but this time, I really don't like it too. The building is definitely heavy and event if it's possible to use apparent concrete to create a great design, this supertall has definitely too much concrete without anything on it. It seem to have been built in the sixties or something like that. It's just a monolith with nothing special to say "Waaaahhh" when we see it, as we can say for some other projects in Dubai, like the Address or Ocean Heights

Well depend how anyone define the word "design", for me "design" mean a work to give a personality, an expression and an attention to an object or a structure. If you compare Benidorm in Spain and Dubai you can clearly see the difference between a city who introduce design massively and a city who only build basic buildings.

I love this building as well. I wonder how the building will be lighted at night when it's completed.

The minimalist design of The Index attracts so much attention that we are here discussing design.

sure, adding his proportion and the fact that Index is unique, there isn't another building like it. Can't wait to see The Index complete.

This is possibly my favourite of the new towers rising in Dubai - certainly a different style to the rest.

Nice pics .

But why no updates anymore since 29th June? Did they stop cladding the top?
