Are there any plans to move or bury the freeways?
I like how their keeping the facades of the older buildings kinda like in NYC.

No, there aren't any plans to move or bury the highways, but good question. Knowing Cape Town's politics and council, that will not happen for a very very long time. : P

Cape Town already has shopping/entertainment precincts which are quite 'happening' on the waterfront as it is, so there is good waterfront access as it is.

Can this thread be renamed to be called "CAPE TOWN: CBD DEVELOPMENTS" ? I realize that I named it improperly, as there is a standard posting form for titles in this section of the forums.(Which is a good thing.)

It just keeps coming... in fact, the densification is filling up all the small spaces, in the centres of old blocks, new buildings are rising, new being attached to old, old becoming new, and entirely 'new from the ground up' projects as well are being proposed all the time.

A large, new mixed-use project has just been announced too... more on that coming in the next few weeks, I should think.

Completed- ADDERLEY TERRACES
New condominiums rising from the centre of an old block, built on top of a parking garage

(Yet another new development built behind old buildings...)

(Look up to see it in this next photo... I love the density that these projects are bringing!)

Being completed- THE DECKS
New building rising in the centre of a block of old buildings.

Just completed- HIP HOP PLAZA
Conversion of older office building into condominium residences

(I just love this one... it looks so very 'Auckland' to me... And it goes so well in Cape Town, too...)

Just completed- FOUNTAIN HOTEL AND SUITES
Conversion of 1960's office building into condominium residences and hotel

(Quite an improvement... it really brought this old thing into the 21st century...)

Nice updates, thryve. Though most are residential. Its expected the commercial boom will start soon, with office space increasingly becoming limited in the cbd.
