When you pay for the ticket, there are two means of reaching the grotto, either by mini-train or by cable car. I advise you to take the cable car whilst going up. At the entrance of the grotto, make sure you place your camera in the safe box because it is prohibited to take photos inside. IMPORTANT NOTE: DON'T WALK FAST INSIDE THE GROTTO BECAUSE THE GROUND IS SLIPPERY. (Once I was going to fall on my back whilst going down the stairs) When you leave the grotto, there are souvenir shops and a cinema theatre. Documentary film about the grotto is played (specific hours). There are many languages, you must check the hours. Then, take the mini-train and go down to the first stop. There you find the entrance to the boat-ride tour. Take that tour as well. (As the boat is sailing, make sure you don't hit your head). Afterwards, you can walk back to the entrance to go out. On the right side of the road, you must see a mini-zoo. (Nothing special) I advise all who haven't visited Jeita Grotto to visit it once. Official Site of Jeita Grotto |

Amazing, Achla min achla. The waterfalls are really something and seeing the view of mount Hermon from the north is very moving to me. I turned one of these photos into my desktop wallpaper.
Being Israeli, I'm not allowed to visit Lebanon. Still I recently ventured into it cautiously by visiting the split village of Ghajar, as a journalist. Half the village is in the Israeli-occupied Golan heights, the other half is in Hizbollah-controlled south Lebanon, in short, life there is no fun and the place is a constant potential warzone. The area around the village is very much the stuff of the photos here, the Hazbani river flows near it in the most majestic and peaceful way and the southern foothills of the two ridges rise around the valley imposingly. |
